Circle Housing’s token example of regeneration consultation today once again beggared the residents belief – spoiling a bright and sunny Saturday afternoon for most of those who attended.
HTA Architects and their client Circle Housing marched around proclaiming how so many residents were in favour of regeneration, when our own survey of opinion proved quite the opposite: that 99% of residents wanted to retain their community, their homes and their area without the bulldozers moving in.
It was also interesting to hear from Paul Quinn, director of regeneration at Circle, how the ward councillors (namely Stephen Alambritis et al) were in approval of the way the consultation had been ran. This was quite contrary to the residents own experience and yet again made it appear that Stephen Alambritis and his Labour boys are in bed with Circle Housing.
We telephoned Stephen Alambritis following this interesting disclosure by Paul Quinn, only to be told that yes, Merton Council is in favour of the regeneration of the three site in Merton, but that Circle Housing needs to improve their methods. Mr Alambritis stated that if Circle Housing were actually unable to do the repairs of the existing properties, how could they claim to be able to undertake a massive regeneration project such as this.
Well Stephen, they have bludgeoned the residents thus far with their disingenuous methods and they intend to continue, until they cull every local man woman and child from here to kingdom come.
