Ravensbury draft masterplan is now visible to residents
On Saturday, 1st November 2014, Circle Housing put their masterplan model on display at the Surrey Arms pub on Morden Road.
Almost two hundred homes are proposed to be built on what is currently home to 100 homes. 4 & 5 storey blocks of flats are placed at the entrance of Ravensbury Grove.
This is a design layout that Circle Housing & HTA Design LLP have developed behind closed doors after refusing to increase their level of engagement with residents during the actual consultation process. We have asked and will be asking for far more transparency in this stage of the consultation.
Of immediate concern are the 4 and 5 storey blocks of flats as you enter Ravensbury Grove. This will drastically alter the atmosphere of the village area, creating a channel of 4 and 5 storeys on what is to most people the defining aspect of the area.
We asked for more information on the plans for Ravensbury Court, but was refused this information by Paul Quinn, director of regeneration; saying that it does not form part of this stage of the consultation. Sad to hear more double talk, but nothing unusual there. It is very unfortunate, because by scrutinising the plans in detail, we have noticed that the garages and sheds have been demolished, in order to fit in more car parking areas.
Some residents thought that their home would merely be replaced with the one in the model, rather than have to renegotiate a home through Circle Housing. So it is very obvious that the Circle Housing consultation is not reaching everyone at all.
