Merton Council consultation extended to Sunday, 23rd November 2014
Merton Council have asked us to inform all residents that the Merton Council consultation has been extended until Sunday, 23rd November, 2014.
The council’s own consultation is a document that you can use to voice your displeasure or otherwise regarding the method of consultation employed by Circle Housing Merton Priory homes and their drive for redevelopment as opposed to regeneration. To our collective mind, regeneration places the community at the heart of any discussions, whereas redevelopment is a controversial process that robs tenants and residents alike.
In their drive for an urbanised area through redevelopment, CHMP has compromised all that is Ravensbury: they want to build 4 and 5 storey flats, reduce community and green space for Ravensbury Court residents in favour of car parking and increase the density of area two-fold. What was once home to 100 homes will now be home to 200 in addition to the homes that have be retained. The whole character of the Ravensbury village is at stake.
We at Ravensbury Residents Association have asked a great deal of people both on our estate and at other places in Merton whether or not they have any confidence in CHMP’s own consultation and the resounding answer has been no, they do not.
