A letter (dated 21/04/2017 & stamped with a Savills return address) from Circle Clarion has been sent to residents stating that Clarion are about to submit their Outline Planning Application to Merton Council.
The letter states that the Ravensbury application is based on the masterplan & feedback from residents and the local community.
We assume that this feedback refers to the CHMP consultation that was criticised by residents for its scale, height, density and for the lack of proper design involvement by the local community – when residents asked for further involvement they were told by CHMP’s architects that this was not possible. The architects said that CHMP had told them not to.
It is an immense shame that our local MP, Siobhain McDonagh, and local councillor, Stephen Alambritis, have appeared to not fully support residents in their fight for neighbourhood, community and the exceptional Ravensbury environment.
Its an even greater shame that CHMP were at all empowered to make such sweeping changes to your local environment without true democratic representation.
Prioritising redevelopment of this truly exceptional environment over neighbouring industrial estates has demonstrated a desire to effectively outgun local residents versus engaging with large companies that own local land that could be redeveloped to the advantage of the entire borough. It demonstrates a weakness of vision & perspective from those leading our community.
Overpowering the local community should not be part & parcel of any redevelopment.
Circle Clarion go on to state that the actual submission documents will be uploaded to the Council’s website and that copies will be available for inspection at both the Council offices and CHMP offices at The Grange, 1 Central Road, Morden, Surrey.
