Local Residents for Ravensbury – 3rd May 2018 local elections

Three local residents will be standing for election as independent councillors in the coming local elections on 3rd May 2018.

Tracy Wilson, Mark Gale & Christopher Holt have all chosen to stand, so that residents are properly represented in Merton Council.

You will have 3 votes in the coming election, so you now have the option of voting for local residents instead of the actual parties themselves.

In case you missed it: Merton Council have finally stamped Ravensbury planning application in mid May

We checked the Merton Council planning explorer recently and have found that they have finally rubber stamped both of the Circle Housing planning applications for Ravensbury in mid May 2017.

Therefore the only thing that remains is for Merton Council to sell the land to Circle Housing. Ie, sell off priceless open space that forms part & parcel of Ravensbury Park and its immediate surroundings.

Redeveloping the derelict garages has sadly enabled Circle to persuade Merton Council to also redevelop our open space which, as we have said continuously, will ruin the character of our area, compromise the beauty of Ravensbury Park and enable redevelopment to ruin our unique village like environment that currently supports the Wandle Valley.

The developer proposes 2 sets of 4 storey blocks of flats and extensive paving in place of the grassed areas which is against the true environmental spirit that is Ravensbury. Seven houses are proposed on the derelict garages site.

Merton Council and our councillors have truly let Ravensbury and its neighbourhood down. And for what? Redevelopment by a company seemingly intent on changing Merton forever in the name of revenue; money in the bank.

They should all hang their heads in shame, or maybe just resign en masse and leave Merton to be run by its true guardians: its residents!

Today: Circle Clarion’s Outline Planning Letter for Ravensbury received

A letter (dated 21/04/2017 & stamped with a Savills return address) from Circle Clarion has been sent to residents stating that Clarion are about to submit their Outline Planning Application to Merton Council. Continue reading Today: Circle Clarion’s Outline Planning Letter for Ravensbury received

Circle Clarion: £12,000 or 85% of Ravensbury Court’s services charges raising concerns or not billed accurately for 2015/2016 #Merton

We have finally finished running through the service charges billed to Ravensbury Court by Circle Clarion Housing for 2015/2016.

We have raised concerns regarding over £12000 of work. That’s over 85% of the service charge billed to Ravensbury Court residents.

48% (£6900) of the service charge appears to have been incorrectly billed to Ravensbury Court and its 59 residents.

38% (£5400) of the service charges appear to raise significant concerns and require further information regarding whether work has been actually done, whether it has been billed for twice.

This significant sum raises the concern that Circle Clarion in Merton and their associated contractors have not managed the repairs properly and billed residents incorrectly.

Deadline for your Merton Estates Local Plan comments: 3rd Feb 2017

You only have until 3rd February 2017 to respond to the PLANNING INSPECTOR regarding Merton’s Local Plan!

Merton Council rather quietly released the final version of their Merton Estates Plan over Christmas, and haven’t greatly publicised the fact that, from their point of view, you only have until 3rd Feb 2017 to give your comments.

Remember that they have spent a lot of time with the Circle Clarion regen team adjusting their local plan (storey heights, densities, road layouts etc) to suit their combined objectives, possibly rather than those necessarily expressed by the Ravensbury community.

The council and Circle regen appear to have combined objectives and even have private contractual terms in the handover agreement documents, so it was pretty obvious that there would be an effective partnership.

However, residents should be able to expect an independent response, and even possibly a positive bias in favour of residents & their community.

You really should respond if you feel your responses haven’t been heard in this final version of the local plan.

Ravensbury RA will hold a small workshop at tonight’s meeting to consider the report from Merton, and will also canvas residents door to door on their opinions as it can be very difficult for residents to find time to attend in the evenings.
